Joel Suosaari’s professional background is software engineering. TickRun is an independently developed research tool and does not claim that its creator is a licensed investment adviser or other regulated financial professional.

Why TickRun exists

Historical charts can make trading ideas feel convincing without testing them. TickRun exists to make the assumptions visible: users can choose a strategy, examine its parameters, include transaction costs, compare it with Buy & Hold, and inspect completed trades and drawdowns.

The goal is not to tell visitors what to buy or sell. It is to make strategy rules easier to question, reproduce, and compare.

How the application works

  • The server stores fixed daily OHLCV snapshots and sends only the requested ticker history.
  • Indicators, trades, metrics, comparisons, and optimization run in the visitor’s browser.
  • TickRun uses a long-only, all-in/all-out historical model and applies a signal to the following close-to-close return.
  • Browser and Python reference implementations are covered by deterministic parity tests for all 40 strategies.
  • The application does not download live prices or place trades.

Editorial and research standards

TickRun content should distinguish documented behavior from opinion, explain important model assumptions, disclose material limitations, and avoid promises about future returns. Strategy explanations are checked against the rules implemented by the application rather than copied from generic indicator definitions.

Corrections should be recorded promptly. The final contact page should provide a working channel for reporting factual, calculation, accessibility, privacy, and security issues.

Why trust must be earned

No About page can make a backtest reliable by itself. Visitors should judge TickRun by the transparency of its assumptions, reproducibility of its results, clarity of its limitations, and responsiveness to corrections. Published credentials should be specific enough to verify and must never imply regulatory authorization that does not exist.

Important limitation

TickRun provides educational software and general information. It does not provide personalized investment advice, fiduciary services, brokerage services, tax advice, or legal advice. Historical simulations cannot predict future performance.
