1. Operator and acceptance

TickRun was created and is operated by Joel Suosaari, an individual referred to in these terms as the “operator.” By accessing or using TickRun after these terms become effective, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Educational service only

TickRun provides general educational information and software for testing rule-based strategies against historical data. TickRun does not provide personalized investment advice, financial planning, fiduciary services, brokerage services, trade execution, tax advice, or legal advice.

No strategy, metric, ranking, optimized parameter, article, chart, or saved result is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security. Historical and simulated results cannot predict future performance. You are solely responsible for decisions made using the service.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate account information, protect your credentials, and notify the operator if you suspect unauthorized access. You may not share access in a way that compromises security or bypasses service limits.

New accounts must verify their email address before saving backtests. Users can request a password-reset link, change their password while signed in, and permanently delete their own account and all associated saved backtests from the account interface.

4. Historical data and model assumptions

TickRun uses saved daily OHLCV snapshots that may be incomplete, delayed, adjusted, incorrect, or affected by vendor methodology. The service is not a source of live or official market data.

Backtests simplify real trading. They may omit spreads, slippage, liquidity limits, taxes, market impact, rejected orders, partial fills, corporate events, borrowing costs, and other constraints. Transaction-cost controls do not model every form of friction.

5. Optimization

Optimization searches historical configurations and is susceptible to selection bias and overfitting. A high-ranked configuration is not evidence that it will perform well in the future. Users should read the published overfitting guidance and independently validate any research conclusion.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • break the law or infringe another person’s rights;
  • attempt unauthorized access, probe vulnerabilities without permission, or interfere with service operation;
  • circumvent authentication, rate limits, bot protection, or technical restrictions;
  • upload or submit malicious code, abusive content, or deceptive account information;
  • use automated traffic that unreasonably burdens the service;
  • misrepresent TickRun output as guaranteed performance, personalized advice, or an official market-data record; or
  • resell or reproduce substantial parts of the service where doing so violates applicable rights.

7. Saved results

You retain responsibility for names and information you submit. You grant the operator a limited permission to store, process, back up, and display that information solely to operate and secure the service. Do not store confidential brokerage credentials, government identifiers, or sensitive financial account information in result names or other fields.

8. Intellectual property

The TickRun name, interface, original text, visual design, and application code are owned by the operator or used under applicable licenses. The ™ symbol indicates a trademark claim and does not represent that a mark is registered. These terms do not transfer ownership to users.

Market names, ticker symbols, company names, and third-party marks belong to their respective owners. Their appearance does not imply endorsement or affiliation.

9. Third-party services and links

TickRun may rely on infrastructure, bot protection, email, or other providers and may link to independent websites. Third parties operate under their own terms and policies. The operator is not responsible for independent content or services beyond the extent required by law.

10. Availability and changes

The service may be changed, suspended, limited, or discontinued. Features, saved data, strategies, and historical datasets may change. The operator does not promise uninterrupted availability or permanent retention of saved results. Users should keep their own records of important research.

11. Suspension and termination

The operator may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect the service, users, or third parties; respond to legal requirements; or address material violations of these terms. Any mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

12. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TickRun is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties that results are accurate, complete, current, suitable for a particular purpose, or free from interruption or error. Nothing in these terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, trading losses, lost profits, lost data, or decisions made from historical simulations. Liability that cannot legally be limited remains unaffected.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. Disputes are handled according to applicable law and mandatory consumer rights and procedures that cannot be changed by these terms.

15. Changes to these terms

The operator may update these terms when the service or legal requirements change. Material changes will receive reasonable notice where required. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance only to the extent permitted by law.
